A new Video Ad Medium from Google
Google's newest adsense venture involves the new world of video on the web and makes use of their newest aquisition of YouTube. They are trying to get web sites to rake in advertising dollars by hosting YouTube "video units" with text ads embedded in them. It's the most recent effort by Google to expand its huge advertising network, AdSense, into the video realm.
Right now Web sites are free to host a YouTube video at their leisure using the code provided in the youtube sharing window, however, They don't earn anything for spreading the love. Now they do.
The catch here is that you can post YouTube videos from a select group of Google video partners. These new partners will be the only ones permitted to produce video content for Google's AdSense advertising network so the choices will be more limited than the full youtube but higher quality may be then end result.
Content will come from existing YouTube contributors Expert Village (which produces how-to videos), Extreme Elements, and many other worthwile producers and Google obviously wants the list of video producers to expand.
Google AdSense text ads will be embedded at the bottom of the Google video units and will be related to the Web page and the video's subject matter. The text ads will change at a rate of about 1 every 10 seconds. Earning a cut of the advertising revenue generated by each YouTube video unit will be Google, video producers, and the sites hosting the video.
